under construction

hello! you've reached the semi-official website of helena rohrbasser, german-english translator, aspiring author and ... webmaster?! this site is majorly under construction and will likely take some time to assemble as all my knowledge of html comes from playing neopets over a decade and a half ago - and simply because real life is chaotic! but as a lifelong internet addict and web 1.0 enjoyer, i'm hoping to make something nice out of my little corner of the web :-)

goals for this site

• get some kind of background situation going on - maybe a public domain hi-res galaxy (CROPPED DOWN. even in 2024 we don't have infinite bandwidth)
• put the text in a box or column so it's not left-justified like a high school essay
• multiple pages organized in a way that makes sense
• german and english language versions of each page, with links on each page to switch languages

and what i'm hoping to do more generally is some long-form blogging about things that interest me. probably the odd historical topic de jour, translation talk, and some armchair literary criticism.
